Job Title: RFIC Design Engineer(s), Staff or Principal, Orange County, CA
Job Description:
Our client is a high-growth technology company located in San Jose, CA. Their products are wireless power transmission systems. Because they are growing, they are seeking to add a few highly motivated and creative RFIC Design Engineers to their staff. Title can be Staff or Principal, depending on experience.

As part of the RFIC Design team you will architect and design RFICs for advanced wireless power transmission solutions.  You will play a role in system definition and also be responsible for RFIC and millimeter-wave building blocks such as power amplifiers, mixers, LO distribution networks, power combiners and splitters, phase shifters, and IQ generation at frequencies from 2.4GHz and up.  This is a highly visible role - as a member of the RFIC team you would be interfacing with other engineering teams including packaging, antenna, PCB designers, and test engineers.
Specific Duties include:
  • Design and layout RF front-end and analog circuits to meet system specifications and customer requirements.
  • Perform 3D EM simulations of on-chip passives (inductors, baluns, IQ splitters, etc.).
  • Verify circuit functionality over PVT, document design and simulation results.
  • Effectively communicate with layout engineers to speed circuit layout completion.
  • Write test plans and work with DVT engineers to verify fabricated designs.
  • 5% travel required
Required Skills:
  1. Experience in design and layout of RF (2.4GHz and higher frequency) front-end circuits such as RF VGA, TX mixer, phase shifter, power splitter/combiner, IQ generation.
  2. Experience in design and layout of analog circuits such as baseband filters, LDOs, and bandgap references.
  3. Strong understanding of CMOS semiconductor device behavior at 2.4GHz and higher frequencies and RF concepts such as impedance matching, isolation, etc.
  4. Knowledge of on-chip trimming circuits for resistor/capacitor/frequency trimming.
  5. PhD or Masters in electrical engineering or related discipline.
  6. Experience with IC design software such as Cadence, SpectreRF, and Calibre
  7. Experience with EM simulation tools such as HFSS, EMX, IE3D, etc.
